Anderson County Hits Foreclosure Crisis

The residents of Anderson County have also been hit very hard by today’s foreclosure crisis. Almost two thousand foreclosures can now be listed within Anderson County, and there doesn’t seem to be an easy method in easing or improving this situation. In fact, Anderson County is now ranked seventh in the entire state when it comes to terms of getting hurt by dreaded foreclosures. This takes into complete account the average amount of foreclosures, as well as the number of vacated residential properties and the amount of loans that are high-cost. The foreclosure situation within the county is simply horrifying.
It is pretty clear that it all has something to do with today’s economy. There are a lot of honest and hardworking citizens out there who have already been affected by today’s economic situation all across the nation. It is no longer only about foreclosure, but the overall psychological effects it has on people and their entire families; it is quite devastating.
The County Council has refrained from raising their taxes this particular year partly to help ease the growing burden on those people who are already struggling to make payments on their mortgages. There are plans for the council to hold business and energy seminars for local residents.
The authority of development has awarded Anderson and two other non-profit agencies in the area around two million dollars several months ago. Therefore, the city should be able to purchase foreclosed properties. The awarded money was thus given for a certain foreclosure project.
There seems to be many more units of foreclosure within the areas of lower-income. This is why HUD has charged the county to pinpoint those units that seem to have the greatest need for some help.
The economy has been making things much harder for residents to actually own their own homes. Credit markets seem to have tightened, while most banks have not made changes in wholesale to practices that are related to mortgage loans with high-interest. Loans are continually being underwritten based on the ability of borrowers to pay for them. Rates of mortgage were quite low several months ago. However, these have risen yet again over the past couple of weeks.
Job losses within Upstate South Carolina have been hurting the ability of residents to pay for their mortgages Banks seem to be quite more conservative nowadays when it comes to their practices. It would be advisable never to borrow too much money, especially if you are unsure whether you will be able to pay the amount or not. The minute you get yourself into such a situation where payment cannot be made, you have to speak to people you plan on borrowing money from in order to somehow restructure that particular loan. People who attempt to go through with restructure sometimes end up in trouble since banks have become more conservative.
Members within the City Council of Anderson have already pinpointed the housing and neighborhoods as its number one priority this time around.
