Spirituality and Foreclosures

The majority of people in the United States believe in God or another higher power. If these believers lose their home to foreclosure my wonder if this higher power cares. Most assuredly there are homeowners across the nation who are getting down on their knees and praying to their God or higher power to stop the foreclosure of their home and to see them through their financial problems. Believe it or not, mortgage brokers and realtors are forming prayer groups to pray for increased home sales.

There are now churches that offer foreclosure help to their parishioners in the form of foreclosure education and classes. These foreclosure classes involve financial planning with professionals and education about predatory lenders and mortgages. There are some churches that can even provide financial help and grant loans to members of their church. Anyone is welcome to attend the workshops or classes even if they do not belong to the church. One organization, Catholic Charities USA sponsors a number of workshops across the country and has helped more than four thousand victims of foreclosure. There are many churches and congregations that have the same type of classes that are available weekly or monthly.

Another foreclosure prevention technique that is religious based and becoming more typical is to bury a small statute made of plastic in your backyard if you are selling your home. Burying a small stature of Saint Joseph in your garden or yard somewhere is said to be enlisting the aid of the saint in finding a buyer for your home. Selling your home can prevent foreclosure when you can’t afford to make your home payments any longer.

There are a number of homeowners that have reported success after burying the statue. Those who have had their home listed for year have claimed that they have sold their home within days of burying the statue. There are some that believe that the stature needs to be buried upside down until the house his sold. It should then be removed after the sale. Some believe that the statue should be left and it will offer protection to the new owner.

If you are facing foreclosure, your church can offer a support system. For many people their faith gives them the motivation that they need in order to make it through difficult and stressful times. Faith is important and seeking out others to help you is important as well. There are a number of government programs that are available that can assist you. There are also professionals in foreclosure that can help you keep your house and get a low payment with your lender. You might also be able to refinance your mortgage into a new loan if you act quickly. The main way to stop foreclosure is to act fast and take the needed steps in the time you have left to save your home.

For a person of faith, there is no harm in praying for help and guidance in saving your home. In fact it can give you a lot of peace during a trying time. The spiritual power you believe in can place people in your path that will help you save your home. The help you pray for may come in the form of a helpful banker or a foreclosure counselor that may actually go to your church.

It is important to keep your mind and spirit open and your prayer may lead you to the help that you need.
